Finally a bit of clear sky last night down here. Unfortunately it was on the eve of a 3am start to catch the ferry South!! Murphy!
Non-the-less, I wasn't to be deterred, after that's what they invented "V" for.
Cloud came and went, but I manged to get a few shots at an elusive Galaxy I have been camera chasing for awhile now.
Attached is NGC1566 in Dorado. 8x3min dark subtracted. 300D prime focus f/10 thru my trusty old C8. Guiding with webcam, K3CCDTools and Star-Mate www.star-mate.com interface.
Processed on the ferry at 5:30am! Well, what else is there to do at that time of the morning.

Cheers

Rob,
awesome shot, well done. Full credit to the StarMate of course. Mine is performing as planned too,
Got some shots of Macholtz, and will see whether thay are up to scratch. Tried for Saturn, but the clouds beat me.
Enjoy the South Island.

Thanks for the comments. It always good to get feedback. Good & Bad. This image had very little processing apart from stacking and basic curves. I reckon with a bit of patience I could scrounge a bit more detail. Still I was very very happy with it, considering it's size & magnitude. Always good to image these Southern objects as they are often not imaged too much by amatures.

Rob,
I haven’t had much of a chance to do astrophotography but if I could get shots like that I would be a very happy man.
