Ok, so I took this image on February 27th, 2009. If I am correct, the bright object next to the moon is Venus, right? Or I may be wrong. But can someone explain what that blue-green crescent object is? I'm thinking it's a reflection or shadow cause I haven't been able to find anything on that? See link.

Thanks,

Hi Benny, :welcome: to IIS.

That's a lovely shot, and you're right - it is Venus.

And the other blue/green object is an internal reflection from the bright moon. It can happen from UV filters on the front of your lens.

What camera/lens did you use?

Welcome Benny.

The blue-green object is an internal lens reflection of the moon.
The rays hit the sensor and partly reflect back up the lens and reflect back off the lens onto the sensor again causing a 'ghost image' of the moon.

Thanks!

And thanks for the explanation guys. I got curious about it because it had never showed up before until I exposed the shot for more than 4 seconds.

I used a Nikon D200 with a Sigma 70-300mm lens, with a Hoya UV filter.
