Well I have finally uploaded my animation of Jupiter over the nights of 9-10 May 2008.
The animation is sloppy and I would welcome any software suggestions. I am using one that I paid for and find it hard to get the registration correct.
Here is the link (http://paulhaese.net/Jupiteranimation910may2008.html)
Hope you enjoy.

Lots of great images in there, Paul. Yes, it does bounce around a little - a bit disconcerting - I guess that is one software problem that you want to fix?
Stunning detail in there !

Beautiful resolution Paul.
I had a quick go at it with a registration mark on the clearest part of
the Eastern(?) limb.
I think it improves a fraction.
However, I can't work out how to FTP it to the upload section.
I keep getting a login error.
Moderators? How can I upload Paul's 1.6Mb GIF to Uploads?
(I'm using Filezilla)

that I aligned on.

Hi Paul,
Stunning images there Paul.
Such intricate detail.
Paul, try loading your avi's into Virtual Dub to convert them to individual bmp's. Download and install Birds most excellent ninox program, load the folder with the bmp's into ninox, crop, centre & grade the bmp's. Do this for each avi that you want to use in the animation.
Having done the above, if you are using Astra Image Pro, you will find that when you go to merge your RGB files, that they are already aligned due to the centreing and crop that was done in ninox.
You will now have a set of images that are already aligned, when you put them into an animation program such as Animation Shop, which is included in Paint Shop Pro 8, they will already be centred and aligned. That said, Animation Shop is very easy to use and among other things, has provision to insert a registration mark that will appear in each frame that you can align each image with. That is how I constructed my Titan transit animation.
I only very recently discovered that Virtual Dub and ninox will work well on Vista. It would have saved me several hours in doing my Titan transit animation if I had done it this way.
Regards
Trevor
Rumples, very nice animation. You might try using the Gimp for building the animation, it lets you align each layer by hand and then export it as an anumated gif.

Thanks guys for the tips, will look into each of them.
Trevor I would love to load all these this data as avi, but unfortunately they are SER files and I now only have one or two run sets left. I had over 100 gig of data from these two nights and the animation is comprised of 30 odd frames. It was nearly a full rotation and was used as the Map for Jupos in the first half of the apparition.
Steve, I used registration marks myself when aligning but really needed two registrations or more to effectively get the image right. I am gonna try doing something in CS. The big issue is that some of the frames are slightly larger and slightly more rotated than others. The trouble with imaging late at night and just missing the registration marks on the equipment by less than a millimeter.
Bird I will give gimp a run it might help.
Thanks all, hope you enjoyed the animation. I had such a great time capturing this data on those two nights. I was very lucky.
