Hi all, it's been a while I have posted anything. Too much work and other commitments. The latest images on these forums are just incredible. Looks like the bar has been set real high now. Finaly managed to get away this saturday and shot those two. Need more data on the galaxy and try again with a narrow field. Problems with gear overheating cut my session short Saturday but I still came home happy.

Very nice Marc.

Your Eta shot shows some coma in the corners. The MPCC may have an exact metal back distance where it supposed to be set. I am not sure how it is fixed but it may be something you can check.

There is some colour noise in the M83 shot. This is common with galaxies even with mono cameras as they are dim.

Noise Ninja is very handy for that. There is a free trial and it is a very useful tool.

Greg.

Two lovely images Marc. Indeed, m83 could do with a little more data, but still presents some great structure. Well done.

Agreed. great images! M83 needs more light as its a touch noisy, and some of the fainter outer reaches of the arms are hidden....

Lovely colour in both images,

Well done,
Alex.

Two great images Marc. M83 is becoming a popular target at the moment. Which bit of gear overheated?

It sure is becoming popular... 5 or 6 really good images from varying focal lengths hitting the forums since saturday...

I too am interested in what overheated? Power supply is the most likely cause I would imagine.. followed by maybe the QHY8 if something went wrong with the fan?? More info please Marc

Thanks Greg. Yes I use a MPCC. Gets rid of most the coma but I still have bit left. I didn't do much processing on the noise not to dim the details inside the galaxy. I definitely need more than 40min on it and a greater FL. Will give it another shot next month.

Thanks Jase. Yes, 4x10 is really not enough for that object.

Thanks Alex.

Thanks Peter.

My RA and DEC motors. The worm gears maybe a bit too tight on the mount. Nothing wrong with the camera. My problem was with tracking.

Thanks Steve.
