Yes, not a reprocess this time...amazing I know :P

I took this data back on 3rd of March last year and only today discovered it on my portable hard drive, I had forgotten to process it. How the hell did I do this? Well looking back in my imaging log it was a quicky before cloud came in on 4 March last year and I only managed LRGB = 10 6 6 6min so I guess I decided why bother and proptly forgot about it

Well finally a year later...I bothered :D

I did Omega as my very first image with the FLI camera back in early 2007 but that was taken without the field flattener as I didn't have the right adapters at that stage, so this image is the full completely uncropped frame.

Moderate size (1550 X 1033) 2meg:

Large size (2250 X 1500) 4meg:

Tighter framing (my favourite) 2meg:

Close up of the core 1.3meg:

And for true thrill seekers with good broadband here is the full frame, full size image (4008 X 2672) 11meg

Only 28min of imaging but I think it came out ok considering

Excellent! What do you mean you "think it came out ok considering"? It's beautiful!

Definition/star separation at the very core is insane Mike.

Ah yeah! very nice Mike. I bet you are pleased with that result for only 1/2 hr exposure! Look how tight those stars look!

I bet you were happy to find that. Nice image, well resolved all the way to the core.

I often have a nagging feeling that I left some unprocessed shots behind in my hard disks somewhere.

Its like a treasure hunt!

It'd be nice to do a 5 hour job on this like Toms. Funny how hardly anyone has done that and the only ones I know of are Tom's and Rob G's. We must take it for granted!

Very very nice Mike. Well worth the effort to process. I love the fine pinpoint stars and the great variance in star colour.

Great piccie, Mike. Core definition is excellent and the stars are just pinpoints. Gotta love those AP apo's:D:D

Glad this little find has given so much pleasure to you guys .

I was pretty excited when I found the data last night actually, almost like actually imaging :D. Imaging is pretty lean for me these days, I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't processed it already and when I realised I hadn't I couldn't for the life of me think how I forgot about it :screwy:

Greg, I agree, read my post to Toms fantaistic effort on Omega Cen.

Houghy, I don't think this sort of thing happens very ofen, I should probably buy a lottery ticket :)

Gary, yes I am quite happy with how it turned out actually, when I realised how little data I had captured I wasn't very hopeful plus. I had only doen 2min exposures for this one rather than my staple 10min and I had only 3 X 2min darks fro this reason ( 10 X darks or more, median combined is much better) plus only flats taken on other nights were available.

Yes the AP does deliver pinpoint stars in good seeing plus diffraction spike free stars ;)... not that I don't like star spikes.

Alex, yes I don't get that smell enough ...but even with the bad rap they get, repro's and recrops are still fun :P

Mr Bluescope, your effort is perfectly ok, hard to take a bad image of Omega Cen really, bit like Elle Macpherson :P

Elle Macpherson huh??.....aaah, reminds me of my favourite cluster:

Cheers guys and here's to a narrow band image sometime soon

Do you mean Omega Cen or the European Heavenly Body cluster..?

Although the European Cluster does make omega centauri look like a fly on the wall I have to admit it's a great shot.
