After Toms magnificent narrow band image of the whole kit and Kaboodle in tri-narrow band, the following are two close-ups of interesting areas of the main nebula presented in isolation cropped from the full frame Halpha image.
I haven't posted the H-alpha data for my Eta image before so these are actually new images really
Each are 30min through a 13nm Astronomiks Halpha filter

Don't you just love the detail that Halpha brings out! I love the 3D effect of the globules against the diffuse background. That AP refractor ROCKS!

It always amazes me that our "little" 6" scope can get such breathtaking detail!
JG is my partner in the South Australia observatory. He is the Jedi Master of H-alpha for sure.

Nice to see something new Mike. Thought for a minute the clouds had parted but found out better when I read on.

Cheers Fred
Funny but I actually like it if there are "some" stars in the field (I know, won't get me an APOD ) plus the wider band pass allows for shorter exposures but yes I agree, it would be interesting.

New image?? where..? :P
Ah yes, well Doug, looked liked certain that Friday was going to be good but the weather forcast turned on me a day out, then maybe Saturday..? Well, Saturday may have been ok after midnight but wasn't worth the risk even travelling the relatively convenient 45min to my new dark sky site
Next time... of course I have narrow band now so I can image even with a bit of moon in the sky, sooooo who knows??? :D

No finger of god? :P
