Taken around 2.30 am this morning. (yawn)
The comet stood out like the proverbials against a dark sky.
I could make out the tail naked eye.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Well worth staying up for.

Lulin is diving down towards Regulus.

Prettl little thing isn't it? I read somewhere on a net search last night that this thing is doing 57km per second. I don't know if that is accurate, but if you extrapolate that out to a recognisable scale that is 205200 kilometers per hour....does that sound right?

Nice catch JJ

Nice one Jeanette,

I had a quick squiz at Lulin last night while I wrecked my collimation on R2, looked a bit like a faint globular. Could JUST see it naked eye from the burbs as it was close to the small star halfway between Regulus and Saturn. Easy to pick up in the binos though!

Thanks for the pic, nice work.

Cheers

Chris

Lovely JJJ!
You better get some shut-eye tonight though or you'll be yawning your way through Ron's tomorrow!.....:D

Rob, I'm not going to Ron's tomorrow.:(
My sister is having her 50th birthday bash tomorrow night. (the old bag:P)
But I'm taking the binos and a tripod along so I can force everyone to have a look at the comet.

I don't suppose the view finder adaptor from the right angle finder is still attached to your camera?

Very nice, what lense did you use there? I am deeply jealous of your dark skies and lack of street lights.

Mick,
I used the Canon 50mm F1.8 lens.
I'll let you know the next time I have an open night if you like. The more the merrier.
Try to have it the week before Cambroon.
Are you going to Ron's this weekend? Ask him for a copy of the invite to a star party over at Somerset next month. Should be very good.

Ohhh Somerset sounds nice, not going to make it up To Rons this time. As usual no time. I will have to send him a message about the Somerset party. Very nice shot BTW.
