Hi all,
Here's an image of this morning's conjunction taken from Brisbane. I decided to zoom in a bit (using the 70-300mm telephoto at 70mm) to try and capture some detail in the Earthshine. I hope you like the result.
There's also a shot of Comet Lulin approaching Saturn, taken about 20 minutes earlier using the same lens. It was a great way to start the week, with comet and conjunction!
Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
Stephen

nicely framed there Stephen! Tried also but only managed a few shots with a bit of fog in them. But at least I also got a look!

Nicely captured! You suffered the same as mine, that the longer focal length views have some trailing in them. They really need to be piggy backed and tracked.
I might try that tomorrow morning.

Great work. What exposure etc for the comet, please, as I'n going to try again tonight.

Thanks Odille.
For this shot I was using a 70-300mm telephoto at 70mm, but you will be able to use 300mm tonight (as I did in the newer thread started this morning) because the comet is closer to Saturn. Exposure times etc depend a bit on the camera, but I would try a range of about 6-20 sec with the aperture fully open (e.g. f/4.5-5.6), and sensitivity set at 1600 iso or thereabouts. Just try a few shots with these settings in mind and adjust as you go along.
Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Stephen
