Hadn't anytime to post this widefield image I had captured last month. Was just a trial run with widefield imaging. :)

Captured some widefield images of the Crux and the Milky Way which turned out quite well. The image had a horrendous gradient from the morning twilight but I was able to get a decent image.

8 x 5 minute exposures at ISO 800 through Canon 450D and 18-55mm lens at F/4.

Thanks for looking.

Dark Doodad there in Musca. Even a glimpse, on the lower left edge, of Centaurus "A"? Good one, Matty!

Matty, excellent capture mate, plenty of wide field stuff in that one, maybe the colour is a little bit off, but having said that you have done well.

Hi Matty,
lovely image, the highlight for me with this is how well defined the The Coal Sack is, really like it.

Well done

Great capture Matt, you've done a great job on that one. Any plans on doing a mosaic of this area?

Cheers

Very Nice image Matty.. Shows none of the washed out appearance which has become the norm in wide fields. A parts of the image show good contrast and colour.

Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments guys. I really appreciate it. :D

Ric, never thought of doing a mosiac of this area. Might be a future project for me. :)

Alex. Wouldn't call my skies dark but wouldn't call it severly light polluted either. The LP to East is quite bad but I've got darkish skies to the West.

Matt,

Lovely!

This region of the sky is special for me, as, it was the very first target I ever shot with a DSLR using a 50mm lens. Brings back memories. :)

Thanks Jase. ;)

Thanks Humayun.

Sure is a lovely part of the sky. I'll probably look back at this image one day and It'll remind me that this image was my first widefield. :)

That's great Chris. Can't wait to have another go at this area of the sky.
