Taken this morning at 10.00 am in 28degrees... Pretty happy, still sulking about me 14", but this little thing may sooth the pain a bit, if this is any indication... Synta 150, 1000D, middle of the day..LOL.. converted to grey because obviously it was blue...I thought these were nade in China, not Japan...

Yeah, I know....mold. Need silica gel, especially when you store them. I'll have to get some for my LX90 pretty soon otherwise the mushies will be growing off the corrector plate!!!!:eyepop::eyepop:

However living up here is what it is...you have to expect 3-4 months of down time. It's a pity you sold it.

The bloke that bought it drive all the way from NSW to pick it up, in a bloody little hatchback I was amazed it all fit in the car, even if he had to drive back hunched over the steering wheel...None the less A nice bloke, and I hope the scope has found an appropriate home... Ill get over it, In the meantime its the Synta and a 12" Newt...I can recoat here when needed... Still looking for a Newt, coatings can be stuffed, that I can fix .....

LOL..

I think the trend is going to be 4to 5 of dismal weather, back to the real wet seasons...:(..

None the less, this little Achro punches through a bad atmosphere quite nicely.. Aperture rules "unless you live here"

I keep a fan running in the obs 24/7 this time of year. I had a kick butt dehumidifier/ozone genny that did the job, but it was not freindly to the power bill....:eyepop:

You want to get the coating on the mirrors protected with a silica coating. That'll stop the mold from attacking the mirror coating and make it last longer as well.

Sounds like that guy was going to have fun getting back down south. Might've been better if he had a wagon...even a large car would've been cramped up with a 14" inside:eyepop:

I think this crud weather is going to be around for quite some time!!!

Typical tropics, do your imaging in the middle of the day, before the clouds roll in until late morning...I love this time of year "really" everything is green,,,"including me"

Very nice indeed Shawn  No real evidence of CA either, although the conversion to greyscale would have hidden anyI guess. Very nicely done - especially in the daytime!! Is this the short-tube?

Regardless of CA in colour pics, and maybe some loss of resolution on B&W pics due to the CA, an achro of f/7 or greater (esp' in the f/8-f/15 class) can take some pretty fine piccies. There's nothing wrong with them....I'd be inclined to use them for B&W pics but there are scripts and such to remove CA, mostly, from pics. I think they're a great piece of kit.

I have a PS action here , purple fringe killer, Its not a puritanical approach I know, but here is one from last night, high cloud probably doesnt help but CA is most evident on this undoctored pic of Acrux... Only 1 second, polar is way off and my guide scope is not ready yet....excuses excuses....:).. At this stage an APO is out of league, and expensive mirrors dont like it here...a portable pack away is my only choice... pack her up with silica gel for 4 months....:(

Anyway CA city....

Thankyou for that info , Im searching down those tracks now, whilst the 150 will not be my imaging scope, I would still like to use it for that purpose if I get out and about...

And the blue fringing ,,,hmmm I can do without....LOL

Ah....that's excellent. No fringe to speak of at all there....well, unless you go looking for it!!!. It's so faint, you'd not notice it if you didn't know it was there originally.
