Hi All,
To celebrate the International Year of Astronomy the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service are involving experienced amateur astronomers around the state to provide sky tours under pristine dark sky's at their various National Parks during the school holiday periods.

On the evening of Friday 17th April I will be giving such a tour at Kinchega National Park, 110 km south east of Broken Hill near Menindee.

There will be a local indigenous ranger or elder that will talk about how they see and interpret the night sky. I will then give a tour of the constellations and point out objects of interest with a laser. I will have a set of 15 x 70 binoculars on a trapezium mount to observe some of the objects available to us at that time.

Regards
Trevor

Thanks Kev,
The National Parks guy thats organizing it is thinking about either their helipad or airstrip for the talk and observing site, should be excellent dark sky hope the weather obliges.

Cheers
Trevor

Hi Trevor!
UNENTAS has been invited by NPWS to participate in SSN in the New England region this year and we have our first night on the 6th March in Guyra, weather permitting, the weather has been really crappy here and we are hoping that we get some clear skies soon!
It'll be great fun!
