Just thought I'd suggest a date for the next New Moon Observing.

I cant Make the 28th Feb, so I am suggesting the 21st Feb.:D

Last visit it was nice to see some Stars, after some interesting weather up there in the past. Lets hope it'll be good again.

I can't make the 21st ,but I would be keen to head out to the pony club on Friday 20th, if anyone else is interested.

If not, I will go to Buckety on the Friday because I need to get the scope out and make sure everything works fine on it and get myself tuned up, before our next group of US invaders :)

Unfortunately working the next 2 saturday nights (14th and 24th), haven't seen the roster for the 28th but if i am working could probably sense some type of ailment in the air!

Just out of interest (a little early planning), April 25th (Saturday) is the new moon, If its available that weekend I think I might book lostock for the friday/ friday night/ saturday/ saturday night and Sunday, Will be cheap if we only use the house which has hot showers and toilet (probably good for about 10-15 people otherwise you need the ammenities blocks also).

Have to supply own food, grog and camping gear/ bedding.

Anybody interested? drop me a line or call on 0411438858, will need to talk to Brian asap to ascertain the availability

Hi Sue,
Thats a lot of time on the roster at Coastal Patrol, Wow. Good work.

I thought of doing that instead of Surf lifesaving this year, but got involved in the radio room ( co-ordination of rescues etc ) which I enjoy a lot.

It would be great to catch up again, havent seen ya for ages.

I will be goin even if the weather is no good, just to have a chin wag and a coffee or two ( or another beverage ) with evreyone.:P

See ya there hopefully.

Hi H,

I will have my 18" Obsession there on Saturday night and we can try for both of those. Splitting Sirius shouldn't be too difficult. Seeing the Horse Head (HH) under Pony Club skies, which are IMO a long way from great, may not be so easy, but probably doable. The HH is one target which does require good dark skies and clear transparent conditions.

The good:
A few hours of clear sky,
Quite a few new comers showing a lot of interest,
Usual good company,

The bad:
The new house lights across the road to the east,
doesn't look like it will be easy to put red buckets on these ones.
Seems to be a lot more red lights in the club house???

Lessons learned:
Make sure you remember which end of your new paracorr is position 5 and which is 1.
(why don"t they just put numbers on it?)

Greg.

That was great! Even travelling just a little further inland, it was astonishing to see just how many more stars, satellites and DSO's were visible.

Many thanks to all who offered to share their gathered light with us newcomers.

So .... when's the next viewing night, then? :D

Rick good to see you there despite the family circumstances - hope the mum in law gets well soon. RB hope the kids to had a good time - good to see more of the clan there. Ash and the other first timers hope you had a good time, you're welcome back any time. 'Shano592' decisions, decisions, decisions. Phil, good to see you there again. Hi all,

Thanks everyone, i had a great time and met some great people. On behalf of my mate Marc i will also say thanks he had a great time and was impressed with how nice and friendly everyone was. He is really struggling to decide what type of scope to upgrade to but I think he should buy a computer and internet connection first....bloody luddite.

I didn't realise that astronomy had so much in common with fishing, get your gear out the car, point your scope at the sky (throw your line in) crack open a stubby and start chatting...It was great...

I am sure we'll both be back work permitting.

Thanks again to all
