Hmmmm... this is fun - working with FIT files is interesting. It's hard to know how to process them until I get some more experience with them. Anyway - here's tonights' experiment (in between cloud banks). LOL! The greys were smoother than it shows here - heavens knows what happened...

Would that be jpeg compression showing up the stretched or DDP'd data?

Dang Mike! Found it. I was exporting a TIF out of CCDsoft and didn't realise that it saves in 8-bit colour space, not 16. Arggh! So then thistime I saved the aligned images as a FITS and this was still 16-bit when it landed. FITS Liberator opened as 16-bit into Photoshop just fine after that. :P
This is a little smoother.

Very nice :)
Is this similar in exposure to your last one done with the 350d ?
Tak FS-102, 350d 5 frames @ISO800, 2 minutes per ?

Thanks Alex & Jeff :)
Jeff - the ST-7 has it's day too. I've seen some great shots from these cameras - including yours.
I've added another 30 mins of data - so the nebulosity is starting to gain some quality I think, and I'm starting to like the subtelty of this camera. Anyways - I'll take some more soon.

The version uploaded to IIS here has been downsized to 200K and is starting to really degrade in comparison - but it's handier

Thanks Alex & Reno
I can't wait to get back out there with some filters on the front. I have an OIII, I just need an Ha and SII so that I can dabble with the HST palette. Anyone have any advice on this?
