just bought a new computer thats wireless im sitting in the lounge room on ice in space better then stuck in the office room how times change ive bought this computer to run my scope in my pod as well as use it around the house taking a bit of getting use to especially the little mouse pad:help::whistle:the old computer was so slow man o man they are fast
well ill be able to use the net a hole lot more

ric my ultimate thought would be to have eyepieces that when you look into them they have a processer so what you see is in colour just like photos that would be awsome you never know

Peter, forget the mouse pad, they wear out quickly and they're never as good as a mouse. Buy a logitec wireless notebook mouse, if you have bluetooth on the lappy then get the bluetooth version.

Re Liveview eyepieces

The latest Panasonic micro4/3rds camera DMC-G1 is a micro sized 12.1mp SLR with interchangeable lenses without a mirror box or optical viewfinder - it uses field sequential system that mixes RGB at 60fps to provide an effective 1.4mp colour image in the all electronic viewfinder of what the lens is seeing.
Olympus are releasing a similar system.

So your thoughts are already close to reality, certainly its economically, dimensionally and technically possible - so it will be interesting to see who boldly goes first !!

What I'd like to see is a computer that writes software on the fly as you request it to. If you're having a problem with a piece of software, it scans the software for the problem(s), suggests a solution and then executes the fix on command, without losing any functionality of the old software and keeps it running whilst it repairs it.

So, vista crashes when using PhD at times, just tell the computer to repair the install and keep guiding....it completely rewrites vista and upgrades PhD at the same time!!!!. Plus, you get a perfectly guided piccie:)

The MallinCam Hyper Plus comes pretty close to this idea.
It's almost real time viewing, in colour!
I saw one working at QLD Astrofest last year. All I could think was "I've gotta have one of these!":eyepop:

Same here....the quality of the pics it takes is quite good. Would you go colour or mono??

Oh....the 120mm SW you've got. Is that the f/5 or the f/8 version, and is it achro or apo??

I'm thinking about getting one later on this year....use it with my GStar for B&W only and for grab n' go.

I've also had a close look at the Mallincam Hyper colour - the thermoelectric cooler and integration up to 58 secs (from memory) is a big feature. THe AUD1800 + post is a big downer ... add to that you do not get a larger number of effective pixels than the GSTAR and I wonder if it's really worth the upgrade from GSTAR.

Of course, I haven't seen it in action; and that is really what would make the decision.

If anyone with a GSTAR decides to upgrade, you might wish to flick me an email with a proposed price on a secondhand GSTAR :-)

The SW is an achro.
But if I was going to invest in a Mallincam I'd for sure have to go an ED.
I've had a go at LRGB with the Gstar and while it certainly does the job there's much to be said about one shot colour.
