Hi guys
A very specific question to those living on the Central Coast of NSW.
Does anyone know any builders that they'd recommend? Reliable, good quality and low price.
We're wanting to get a little work done at home and would prefer to go to someone who has been recommended, rather than just picking names out of a phone book.
Cheers

Taking Mike's thread at a bit of a tangent (Sorry Mike), I'm interested in advice on how to pick a secure builder. We would seem to be reaching the stage of "economic cycle" where builders go bust. I'm sure I spotted one report some days ago, leaving 100+ unfinished homes. I'd hate to be in that situation. And the past has shown that even reputable builders with good histories can get into trouble. Of course, the situation at the other end of the cycle when all is going crazy, is that you can hardly get a builder, nor afford them. I need to build sometime in the next 4,5,6 or 7 years, and am hoping I find myself in the safe part of the cycle - not really expensive, nor cheap, but when builders are secure and won't collapse on me in the middle of the job.

yeh it would be a hard choice if you're getting major work like that done.
Fortunately the work I require is fairly small so hopefully i'd be able to find some builders quite easily looking for some small jobs.

I had an extension done some 10 years ago. Owner-builder. My chosen carpenter vanished in the middle of the job leaving a right mess behind, once I inspected more closely! Grrrrrr!
Yes, now is probably the time when they will look at smaller jobs to keep the cash flow up and employment for their tradies.

Second Storey Additions are good for the larger work (did a good job on our extension), but probably are not set up for small jobs, Mike.

Maybe find one who is on one of the big insurance company's approved builder books.
I have used same guy that the NRMA Insurance sent to repair my storm damage to do other jobs. He was only interested in the smaller jobs.
