Folks,
Fellow amateur Charlie and myself took this image of The Rosette Nebula last Friday night.

Consists of 6 x 10min at 800iso and 1 x 20min at 400iso using an unmodded Canon 350D with ICNR. ED80 with Orion Broadband DSF.

I will at some stage attain more images for stacking.

Outside temp was a nasty 25deg, not good for a DSLR but anyway I was astounded to how big this object really is.

Stacked with DSS and processed in CS3 with minor cropping. (I need a field flattener) with some noise removal using Noise Ninja.

Please comment with constructive criticism as I need the practice.

Nice guiding and focus, and low noise for a non modded 350D 20min exposures !!!!!!!!! (didnt think that was possible !).

Rosette is fairy fluroescent, could you perhaps brighten it up a bit?.

HI Fred,
I've had a go at brightening it up a bit. What do you think now?
There was some noise but took it out using Noise Ninja. (Cheating I know).

wow, much better, very smick. And sheesh, thats mighty fine guiding for 10/20mins subs on a Meade mount !!. (or was that 6 * 10min subs and 20min total at 400ISO?)

Very nice image. You have controlled the noise very well considering it was 25 deg.
Don't be sorry posting a nice clean image like this one.
Well done.

Good shooting Paul , i like it, I reckon though, if I may be so bold, and that is a wider field would have done it more justice, however a fine image.

Thanks Fred, it was 6 x 10mins at 800iso and 1 x 20min at 400iso, you mention it was extreme to expose for 20mins with a DSLR? What would be the maximum exposure for this sort of camera?

Thanks for your words renormalised, I think on the whole we can only get better if we are pointed in the right direction.

I suppose Doug, it was a muggy night with no breeze till after midnight then it started to blow the scope around so I thought enough, I will at some time add to this image and try to up the resolution. We will see.

Thanks Joe..but your the man, you taught me a lot, I image in the wake of your shadow.

Thanks Dr Paul, between me and you we should be able to pull some some nice images.

Leon, you are the master of widefields, your Rosette blew me away! Having said that I need to get the right T-Adapter that will accept my f6.3 focal reducer because this DSO certainly pushed the current field of view to its boundaries!

I wish you blokes would stop apologising for putting good images up. Not required!!!

Great shot, and I agree the second one displays the luminosity we normally associate with high-end renditions of this object. Very nice!

Paul, wow what a beautiful shot that is mate !
I agree, I like the second one better and as Joe said, it's amazing what these DSLR's can pump out given the chance.

Well done champ !
