Hi all,
Here's the best of some macro shots that I took in our garden this morning. Taken with a Pentax K100D with 50mm macro lens, 1/180 sec at f/11, 800 iso, using just natural light. I'm still amazed how much detail these macro lenses pick up!
Cheers,
Stephen
Wow, that's a beauty, Steve.

Stephen,
That is stunning. That shot belongs in a nature magazine.
The composition, with the grasshopper looking seemingly at you, and the framing is just spot on.
Well done.

Thanks very much for the comments everyone! I'm quite pleased with this shot. And I didn't realize that grasshoppers have bristles on their noses until I took this!
Cheers,
Stephen

Top stuff Stephen,
A macro lens sure does open up a whole new world of opportunities.
Well done, love it, a face only a mother could love.

Thanks Trevor and Andrew!
Hey, that sounds like a good idea to me Andrew! I'm still very much a novice at this macro stuff, but if we could round up a few interested people it might be fun. It would be good to do it before the summer is over and the bugs start becoming scarcer. I'm busy for the next couple of weekends, but could potentially make it for an early morning outing on the 21st/22nd Feb or the following weekend. March is looking free as well. Venue could be Mt Coot-the botanical gardens, but I'm open to alternatives.
Perhaps we should start a new thread on this topic?
Cheers,
Stephen
great stuff stephen! loads of detail in that pic :D
