Well, I've had my new camera for about 2 weeks now, and guess what? It's been cloudy & raining almost the whole time. In fact, the only times it has cleared up was when I was away for a few days on business...

Okay, so this image is a bit old, but I haven't had *any* clear weather since then to grab anything better. I took this the day after the camera arrived, and it was new moon so Venus was the best bet.

I'm also about 1/2 way through building the 13.1" new scope, the wait for the new mirror is *killing me* :-)

Image details:

Scope: 10" f/6 newtonian
Camera: Dragonfly Express, 5x powermate
Filters: Green filter

2000 frames, exposure 20ms.
Resampled 1.5x in registax

Very smooooth bird  Nice and sharp. If that's first light I think you're on a winner. Look out Jupiter and Saturn.

Great Venus Bird, are you going to try the Wratten#47 next time? Apparently it can show some cloud details..

Beautiful shading.

I'd also like to see it with one of those deep IR 1000nm filters. Or that might only be for the dark side when it's a thin crescent. I can't remember.
