I have noticed over the past few months that this trend is growing.

Ah now it is happening, ;) you probably can all see that it is bloody hot, and i'm bored, but at least I have stirred the pot.
Leon
Grant is that you, I quite like that one, mate, when you are sick of your own face, please put it back on, I wish I was that clever to do that to an avatar.

There is no end to the wonders of Adobe Photoshop and Image Ready.
I considor myself an absolute novice with these programs.
Still coming to grips with a manual I bought for Photoshop 7
To get normal photos down to the required size I use a little program called "Avatar Sizer"
Takes about 5 clicks of the mouse to complete
Hmmm. Photo Shop 7 you say, well you have done very well, with your limited resources, i might add. ;)
I do however love that flaming face.:scared:

True jjj, but you are not half bad either.;) and Chris i reckon this is good, we always get a surprise when we actually see the face of a person, as we , well at least I do imagine what someone looks like, but i'm always way off.

very funny leo, you should know yourself, as we mature, to put it a nice way, our facial features have a funny way of changing. Sometimes, or most times not to the better. :D

:rofl::rofl::lol::D;)
How funny is that!!!!!
Hey BerrieK,
To toggle from one picture to another you need an animation program.
There are free ones on the web like Gimp etc
I use Adobe Image Ready.
Just changed my avatar to animate from my face to a scary clown face.
Like anything its a bit of a brain pain until you know how.
Best of luck
BerrieK

Thanks Gman, jjj PM'd me with similar info.
Nice clown morph.... looks like something from a Stephen King novel!

Arrgghhh! Ye gods - is there anything more annoying than animated images on a web page? LOL! They are so horribly distracting - and more so if they cycle quickly. Sorry.... my 2c

Chris, I hadn't thought of the distracting annoyingness (hmmn that's not a real word) of an animated avatar and thus will resist.

LOL! Don't mind me Berrie. I'm in the software design game which includes web-based applications - and flashing stuff is just so 90's to me. It really isn't any of my business here - so if you want flashing avatars - why not!
Chris, I might have to agree with you on this one, a bit distracting.
Leon
Chris, Leon,
Sorry to have upset you blokes with this little animation.
Just made a quick one to give BerrieK an idea of a simple animation.
Had to make it cycle quick due to the size constraints of the avatar and to make it as fluid as possible in the least amount of frames.
 oh no, an animated smiley LOL :-)
Regards,
Gman

hey gman i just saw your flashing avatar on another thread and popped in here to comment on it but it was aready gone. I thought it was pretty good and I liked the way it looked.
Even with it a bit fast it was still far far better than mine
Cheers
Gary:)
Thanx Gary,
Just a bit of fun making things like that whilst sitting on the computer.

Glad to see the rest of you all catching up ;) I've had my mug on here for the best part of 2 years now - as Acropolite (Phil) could verify. He managed to recognise me in the flesh in the dining hall at Qld Astrofest 2007 late one clear and cold night.
Good times Phil hey?

Nice Idea.
I've not long joined and went to my first viewing night last night.
Half way through the night I realized I really wouldn't know any of these people I'd just spent the last few hours chatting to if I passed them on the street tomorrow.
Not something I really considered til then :)
Here you go Leon,
Here's my slightly different take... me and my lovely wife, under a dome. Taken by another iis member. Hope you like!
Brett:)
Nice Brett, but i can't see the misses, but i'm sure she is a looker.

Hi Ron. Yeah I suppose I should think about an Avatar. I just haven't sorted any photos or even figured how to get the right size or anything like that. In short I haven't got around to it yet:D
Still plenty of other people still to put there's up too;)
Cheers
Gary:)
Hi Ron,
I went back to a photo avatar.
I created an avatar that tweened, (like morphing), from my photo to a clown face to show BerrieK what can be done.
Had to make it cycle quick due to size contraints.
I will put it back on in a minute so you can see and I will change it back tmorrow.

Yes, thats true, hijacker!
Just imagine Leon comes back, checks his subscribed threads, sees that his "Good to See" avatar one has gone VIRAL and is now over 15 pages, thinks that EVERY IIS member has now put their avatar picture on, thinks "Jeez I am good" then checks it and finds 11 pages of us two just rabbiting on!
Classic.
