I know the answers to this will be varied, but I'm just curious what some of you think.

I'm currently learning to image (mostly long exposure with a DSLR) with a 6" Schmidt Newtonian (FL=700 - f/5).

I can afford to buy a used Meade AR-5 (FL=1143 - f/9) or a new 6" Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain (FL=1500FL - f/10).

Would either/both of these other scopes perform better than my SN?

Would one be better than the other?

I certainly appreciate any thoughts or opinions. :)

The longer FL scopes would be better for planetary viewing and imaging, the SN would be better for deep sky.

Thank you, Lester. I'll hang on to the SN! :)
