I ordered a water tank before Christmas, and was told it would be delivered around the eleventh of January, will not be here till the first week of February:(
Ordered a camera on the ninth of January was told it was out of stock:( only after I had paid my money:mad2:
I was told I would get before the long weekend, that to will not be delivered till the first week in February:(
Why don't they all just shut up shop until February, as nothing gets done in January:shrug:

I think you're being ripped off in more ways than one here, Ron, and I would take all of this to Consumer Affairs. If they didn't help, go public in the papers and/or the TV press. Best way to get anything done is to stir things up a bit. Nothing worse for a business than to be severely embarrassed and have it made known that they're not so good to deal with. Either one of two things happens....they bend over backwards to help you out, or they go the completely opposite way (in which case they're not worth the effort dealing with at all). If you're in the right, they have no leg to stand on.

Hi Ron
Commiserations on the water tank mate, we’ve been there, done that.
We ordered our tank on 12th April 2007 and were promised delivery 8th May, then 18th May, then 28th May, then 8th June, then 15th June, then 21st June before it finally arrived on 27th June.
But….it was the wrong colour….and…it sprung a leak within 3 months.
When we reported the leak, it felt like we were dealing with a different company as they were so responsive and helpful replacing it within 2 days with one of the right colour.
I hope you fare better!
Cheers
Dennis

Hmmm i ordered a double carport from a very well know shed company and it took the sub contractor 5 months to lay the concrete. And hes trying to rip me off with double charges for 'site works' He seems to have gone quite now that i have asked for an itemised bill.

Commiserations on you lack of service Ron. It can really bring you down.
Look at the trouble I had with www.CameraFarm.com.au.
Almost a month for delivery on an accessory that they had in stock.
You didn't order your camera through them did you ?
I can say that I had the opposite with my watertank Ron.
I organised for a 90,000 litre concrete in the first week of December and they told me it wouldn't be started until the end of January. Fair enough considering Christmas and their holidays I thought so I paid a deposit and signed the papers.
The week before Christmas week a big truck turns up with all this tank formwork and 5 hours later it's all in place, the next day the concrete truck arrived and they poured the tank. Two days after that the formwork was gone and the pump was installed.:eyepop:
I asked when do they what the rest of the money and the guys said I will be sent the final bill, I'm still waiting for it. I suppose I better ring and see if they want their money.:D

Water Tank turned up yesterday:) Only one problem, they put the filler hole and the overflow pipe in the wrong place :mad2:even though it was specificly drawn on the order where they were to go:rolleyes:
If I want it fixed it will have to go back to the factory and wait for another week or so for another one:(
Still no Camera

I often wonder about the general intelligence of some people these days. Or the overall education they received at school. They can't seem to be able to read simple drawings or even take simple requests and get them right!!!. It's endemic unfortunately....having some tool not use their tool right and getting everything wrong:doh::eyepop:
Some companies are there just to take your dollar with a big smile and all the bull they can muster to get your sale, once you hand over the dollars, they couldn't give a rats about you and just make up any excuse.
This happened to us not so long ago when we had a caravan custom built, from a company in Geelong.
The sales person went through the options available to us which he jotted down on the plan, when we picked it up, not one of the options was addressed, and they just built it the way they thought it should be.
Because we were excited to pick up our new van which cost in excess of 30K, we took it home, something we probably should not have done.
Anyway during the first six weeks it literally feel apart, and went from bad to worse, we complained to no avail, and we requested a full refund, they literally laughed at us.
But their smiles soon turned to sad faces after I contacted Consumer Affairs, who couldn't do enough for us, and basically ordered then to refund the cost of the van, or go to court.
Two weeks later we got a phone call to bring the van back, and a cheque for the full amount was waiting for us.
Stir the pot I say. it is not good enough.

Thankfully this is not the what I've found with dealing with most of the retailers supplying astronomy gear in Australia, everything has arrived as they said it would and within a week of ordering. Not it stock they tell me, returned an item unsuitable not a problem. IMO I think we are a lucky lot as far as this goes. My biggest gripe is Govt Dept's and Pollies, so don't get me started on that path.

Gee ron your not having much luck with sales and service for now .
I have had my share of bad dealings over the years.. on a more positeve note my best experiance with customer service didn't start out that good .. we bought a maton guitar for our sons birthday .. a while later we notice a couple of cracks on the sides where the timber was bent to shape .The retailer reluctantly organised it to be sent back to the manufacturer.. when returned they were still there.. though the guitar had been polished up real nice .. oh and because they couldn't find the defects they billed me for the return freight to melbourne ..the retailer still was a pain and said well its polished up nice and clean and that would of cost you more than the frieght you've paid.. I'd just about given up by this point but thought
I'd try one more call to the companies head office .. by chance the customer service manager picked up the phone .. he listened and said based on what you have told me I'll get a courier to pick it up this afternoon.. A week later he rang back to appologise and tell us the guitar was being sent back to us so as you have something to play .. And I'm putting you through to
our senior luthier so you can order a nice custom build .. Still have both guitars :)
And 8 years on I've never walked back into the music shop that sold it to us once .

I must admit this was my biggest gripe working in private enterprise sales would give away $$$ to worthless customers who ordered big but wouldn't pay and management would treat their bread and butter customers like rubbish and then wonder why they'd lose business.
Customer service is a joke in the country so is QC or TQM or ISO9200 they just words that management use to roll in the suckers.
Ethics is a dirty word in business.
(Not all business'es mind you but big corp's for sure)

You'll be needing a small spa now Ron to enjoy all that extra water capacity - you could put one just in the shade near the tanks.

No Camera coming now :(after a month of waiting the company I ordered it of said that Sony had put up the price of the camera's by 30% and and would not be delivering the camera's till next week:(
I am so :mad2:mad as I have been in touch with the internet company Doitdirect.com.au constantly and as far as I am concerned I would not recommend them to my worst enemy:mad2:
They have strung me along, telling me they would ring me when they had a time when the camera's where coming in, and now the camera I ordered is not coming at all:mad2:
I hope I will get my money refunded overnight:)
They are still advertising the camera even though they don't have it in stock, the guy told me they are allowed to do this  which to me stinks:shrug:
I have learnt my lesson about ordering over the internet, I won't be doing it:mad2:
Now it looks like I will have to start all over again :(
Awwwwww Ron dont get mad get even grrrrrrrrrrrrr :P;)

Also my tank is now installed and I now have two full tanks of water,
To say I am happy is an understatement :):):)

Thats quick delivery for a water tank, it took 3 months to get the one I ordered last year, but the company did tell me this when i ordered it. Seems everyman and his sister wanted one. Never had a problem buying on line (yet). But I know from experience, if your not happy, make a noise, complain loudly. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. :)

:eyepop: oh no  oh well off to the shops we go again hahahha ;)
