Attached image of a "huge" Tachinid Fly that landed on my outside garden bench while I was mowing the lawn. Unfortunately he caught me with my pants down "so to speak" and I couldn't get the quality of shots I would have liked. I only had a moment to grab the camera and snap a shot. Unfortunately, he didn't stay put long enough for me to change lenses.

I have left the head of the 10 gauge screw in the image for a size comparison. I guss the fly was very close to 25mm in length. I certainly wouldn't want the sucker biting me.

Cheers,

Quark

Nice shot, now there's something that sure could wreck a barby.

great shot
Fly's are horrible, but this one almost looks too pretty to swat!

Great capture for such short notice after he landed in the yard.
I never seem to have a camera handy....:P

I think these are the ones that loved biting me at Christmas time. These little blighters in Queensland would bite and draw blood....then fly away too quick for me to see more than a bit of Green colour.

Even though he looks pretty good, I think I'll be grabbing a thong next time I see one for a quick " whack ".
