I just love swinging the Dob over to this object for an extended
perv, and love showing it to others who have never seen a glob
before ... especially kids. The impression of stars "popping
out" at you make it almost like having 3D glasses on.

Captured with 450D / ED80 on Jan 17th.
20x30sec stack @ ISO800 with single dark.

Do you more experienced folks ever crank up the focal length with
a barlow to resolve more stars? Not sure if there's an easy way
to bring out more stars without burning out the central region.
Secret techniques welcome. ;)

Try bracketing a few shots and combining them as a HDR image.

As Stuart mentioned... The best way to get more stars and more extended detail is to do a set of long exposures and a set of shorter ones, and layer them together in photoshop..

That image of yours looks good, a bit of a tweak in shadows and highlights should bring down the slight burn in the central area...

I cant wait for my first go at this target! :)

Well done mate, and keep at it!

That's the best globular image I've ever seen. My eye is untrained but Wow!

Globulars always get the child in my mind wondering when I look at them through the telescope.

Thanks

Thankyou for the kind comments of encouragement.
Will tackle layering in Photoshop for various exposure durations .... next time!
