I didn't have much success trying to shoot this object from the city so went out to Stockport at the South Australian Astronomical Society's location to try some clearer skies without my Hutech LPS-V3 filter on. Only managed 7 X 10 min subs at ISO 1600. Still a bit noisy but it was a warmish night for the DSLR. Any comments welcome.

Thanks Louis. Will give it a go.
Nice one Craig, the old broom lady can be a difficult target but you have captured it very well, a little blue perhaps, but certainly a nice image.

Thanks Leon.
I have just altered the original image - less blue, but not sure which one you saw.
Craig, it is the one that you have posted now, it dose look a little blue on my screen, however I suppose I'm comparing it to the one I did a few days ago, and mine came out more to the gray end of the colour range, I actually had to put some blue into mine to bring it out a bit.
Anyway regardless of colour yours is a fine image. ;)
Leon

Thanks Leon. I'm a little confused as to what the actual colour should be. Jase has a very blue one on his site (terrific shot) and a recent of Doug's was bluish - more so than mine from memory, so not sure what to aim for. I feel my processing is not improving.

Hi Craig,
very nice shot! Many details. I am still waiting for a chance to make a pic of the witch with the Pentax75.

Really nice Craig - colour aside, there's depth and texture to the nebula.
Cheers

I agree with Doug - that regardless of colour there is good detail. As Leon pointed out each monitor may show different variants in colour anyway (looks more purple on my calibrated monitor!). This is an inspiring image though!

Thanks Dr Paul, Doug. Would like to try some exposures at 800ISO if I go up to Stockport again - might get some more detail. Doug, I notice the witch in your latest Barnard's loop is purplish as well.

Lovely image Craig. One of the best of this target I have seen. You have captured a ghostly glow in the nebulosity which is missing in most others I have seen.
Really lovely image.:eyepop:

Thanks Les and Doug. Maybe I won't sell the gear just yet, but still suffering from the sand fly bites from out the bush at Stockport.
