Hi all
On a VERY warm night, I used the 6 inch F3.6 SN to go rather deep on M1 the Crab Nebula.

19x5 mins ISO400. MPCC coma corrector and LPS filter used.
Also included a full resolution crop, clearly showing the colours of the nebula.

Also did Orions Sword. This is a masked image consisting of 5x5 mins ISO400 for the deeper exposure, and 3x30 secs ISO200 for the bright inner part of M42. All taken with Hutech modded 350D

Its almost astounding that a digital sensor can get any data on so warm a night. I was in shorts and T shirt and was still uncomfortably warm. Was almost glad when I finished so I could go inside to comfort of airconditioning. This is where Berts fridge is such a great idia. There was considerable noise in my subs, seemingly even more so than in 10 minute subs Id taken at cooler times.

Beautifully taken Scott.
It was kind of warm last night, very humid and you have done well.

Nice shots, Scott. There is a fair bit of noise in the piccies, but they turned out alright. The Crab would be better if it was taken at a slower f ratio and long FL, you'd get better image scale on it...say f/8 or slower. Have you got a long focal length scope??. Although with conditions being the way they've been, you need all the speed in the world you can get!!:)

Scott, Not only was the night warm - but at the moment the Crab is sitting reasonably low - possibly near heavy skyglow! So not bad considering!

Thanks all
Yes I considered using my 10 inch f5.6 to take the Crab. I may do that next time, but the heat deterred me, theye was also a noreasterly blowing though that stopped when it got dark so I could have used the bigger scope.
