Hi All,

I know its a bit tragic, but as I was fiddling around playing with LE shots of M42 I noticed Saturn had risen. Seeing was messy and it was low over the neighbours house so heat was causing havoc. I really shouldnt have bothered with all that but the temptation was there so I did anyway.

Before the clouds closed in I shot a few AVI's each of 30 secs, here is the one using the 3 x ED barlow, too much gain seems to have bled the planet into the background or at least caused the stacking some issues. Couldnt seem to iron it out. Oh well, maybe next time.

Capture time: 30 secs
Frames Stacked:158
FPS: 15 fps
Scope: 5 inch reflector
Stacked in Registax, levels, wavelets and sharpening done in GIMP

Thanks for looking, at least looks like Saturn, but I am still not happy, couldnt wait to the zenith as the clouds forced me inside.

Cheers

Chris

Nice coloring. You have a color camera, right? I think they tend to show coloring consistent with images taken in space. Thanks.

Thanks Dave,

Yes, its a modified Philips Toucam webcam and I did slightly adjust the curves in Gimp to reduce some of the flaring on the main disc of the planet and this gave it a more "homely" look ;)

Thanks for the compliment, I thought it was a bit icky, but it seems not so bad after some sleep with fresh eyes.
Not perfect, but better than I have done before.

Cheers

What time was it taken, chris? I can *maybe* see Titan :)

Nice effort.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate that.

It was taken this morning at 1am our time which means 14:00 UT? This match up?

It would be pretty cool to *maybe* have Titan there somewhere  ??? I have checked the avi again and not so eagle eyed as you. I hope so anyway.

Thanks for the comment, it means a lot from the planetary "Master". :)

Just call me "Grasshopper" ;)

Cheers

Dude. Use the force and get rid of those clouds!! :D

The halo around saturn in the pic could well be the result of a very fine high level cloud, maybe not even visible to the eye..

A good attempt, keep at it! :D

And may the force be with you (as long as you use it to clear up the skies for all of us)

:)

Thanks Alex,

Best I have done, but I can do better, as Yoda says;

"Do, or do not, there is no try"

Cheers
