Hi everyone,

I just recovered this telescope from my garage, it obviously hasn't been used for a long time. I'm not exactly an astronomy addict, but nevertheless I would like to get it working and dabble a bit in observation if possible. The only thing is, I have no idea how these lenses or eyepieces or whatever they're called work; the telescope itself appears to be fully setup but I dont know how to use these extra bits and pieces (it has a Telrad) Or how to collimate it - I don't even know if it is out of alignment or not. The manual has also been lost, so I was wondering if any kind soul here maybe had a copy...

P.S. First post!

Hi Darren and :welcome: to IIS

You need to put all the pieces in your car and head for one of the observing nights that will be underway around Sydney this Fri/Sat night, being New Moon weekend. Someone there will help you sort it out and see how it performs. You should be able to see reasonable views of the Moon and Saturn (and Jupiter, when it is back from dancing with the Sun). Also open clusters and some globular clusters. Some nebula, if the sky is dark enough.

Have you done any searching?:-

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the quick reply - yep I have searched hi and lo for info on this particular telescope (general consensus seems to be it is ok for a department shop scope) and there seems to be many people out there also missing a manual

About the observing nights, I will go and have a look-see, hopefully there are some in Western Sydney although I doubt I will be able to make it.
