G'day all,

I scheduled in a sequence of shots of Lulin at the end of last night's NGC run. Shots taken between 4am and 5am local time.

The comet is quite right but in hind sight I should have increased the exposure length and decreased the camera's temperature. But it was easier this way, as I already have recent reduction frames for 30 second exposures at -5 temp.

I haven't accurately balanced the colours, I really must do that some time. I never get around to it because it's so rare that I do colour imaging. But come time to take a photo like this, I just have to use an educated guess as to the correct colour balance, which is no good.

I'm very happy with the result, more from a technical point of view, that the automation worked to the point that I could schedule in a comet which was 40 degrees away from the night's other targets and it still gets reasonable images of the object. The image quality is slightly above average but not brilliant. Processing could do with more of my time, but that's always the way! :)

It's nice to have another shot of a comet, it's been a while :)

Well done Roger, excellent result.

I've been planning to have a go at this one myself soon.

Well done Roger,
Isn't technology great, especially when it works.

Trevor

Thanks :) You should... it's quite bright. Wider field with longer exposures would be interesting, I'm not sure if there's any extended tail..

Yes... such rare occasions those are too :)
