I am interested in a Philips webcam (840K or SPC900) with long exposure mod at the right price. I have a standard SPC900 for Moon and planets but the long exposure mod looks a bit beyond my bifocals.
Maybe someone has upgraded to a CCD camera??

Peter,
The SPC 900 is one of the easiest mods to perform!
No pin lifting/ track cutting involved...that's a thing of the
past.
Unless you haven't already, look here for a good description of
how to mod one: two takes on the same procedure:
http://www.home.zonnet.nl/m.m.j.meijer/D_I_Y/spc900nc.htm
and here:

I can recommend it if your handy with even basic soldering.
If not, I could mod one for you if you covered the postage?

Thanks for the info. Steve. I have checked out those sites previously but only had the courage to remove the LED. I studied several sites but don't remember seeing a decent circuit diagram which made me hesitant. The "dead bug" method mounts an IC over the existing board while using a separate board looks a lot neater but requires a large case.

It's very kind of you to offer to do the mod. I will give it some serious thought, but I would want to cover your time.
