Hello
this one isn't as good as I'd like the "antennae" didn't come up as well as I would have liked but at F11, its a slow scope and the 20Da isnt all that sensitive (i'm convincing myself i need a new dedicated CCD...)
I dedicated it to my better half (who puts up with a lot as I spent most of our holiday either rebuilding the observatory, spending the nights out imaging or sleeping in during the day...)
cheers

Frank you're taking some great shots with your C14 and DSLR, you have the colour balnce thing spot on. Perhaps a little too much noise (even for a noise-a-file like me) but it is not enough to prevent them from being excellent shots

That looks like a "hallmark" astro valentine card. Now I have an angle to talk to my other half and start budgeting for the C11. Thanks for the tip Frank. Top work. :)

Thanks guys,
Mike, I know about the noise in this one, only way i could show the antennae, I'm not particularly proud of the shot but it keeps me in the "good books" ;)

Hey that's a nice image.
I've tried imaging that one before. Very dim so you did well.
Stephen D has a good technique for reducing noise (which isn't that bad).
Noise Ninja is good too. Just lasoo the galaxy first to limit where it reduces noise or you will lose a small amount of sharpness.
Greg.

Stll a very nice image Frank, it shows you can extract the detail from a small target like this one. Focus looks a little soft or maybe some high level fine cloud.
Lovely image Frank, the extensions look fantastic.

Frank,
My, my, look at that -- perfectly round stars.
Agreed with Mike, your colour balance is spot on.
You've been a busy lad!

Thanks again everyone,
Doug, i think i might have been battling a bit of a jet stream at the time
but its possible i missed the focus a bit too.
I'm now using a Bahtinov home made mask which has made focussing Sooooooo much easier.
One of my favorite pieces of equipment and my least expensive too!

a very nice image, round stars and at over 2.5m focal length you would expect seeing to effect any image, i think its a ripper !

Great job Frank!
I agree, your colour balance with this scope and camera is very good as can be judged from your other images.
And yes, it takes a very understanding other half to let you do what you do.
She sounds like a top lady.
Yes, you know you want a new cooled CCD, you need a new CCD, you must have a new CCD... (this is your subliminal voice speaking)
All the best
