View Full Version here: : BIT of wind and rain

Have had quite a bit of rain (300mls at my place in 26 hrs) and gale force winds this am. Much more settled now.
Ventured down beach at King Tide for a look - massive seas (we get minimal waves here due to reef) that have gouged out about 12 ft of sand. I had to rescue my outdoor setting before it tumbled into the seas, and was scared I was gunna tumble in as well ..... the neighbours seats had already tumbled down .... many trees along the foreshore have gone in ... was bit scary, but amazing. Got swamped from waves that never usually make it up the enbankment. Had to run back inside for shelter, but of course managed a few pics.
The steps down to beach will now require a big long jump :D

Hi Liz,

Thanks for the post and the snapshots.

Sorry to hear of the damage to the foreshore and the loss of so many trees along it.
Seeing as the vegetation normally plays such a vital role in helping stabilize the
sandy soil, let us hope it is not the start of a viscous cycle come the next storm.

Glad to hear we didn't lose you out to sea!!! Take care next time!

Best Regards

Gary

Hi Liz
Cairns certainly coped it too.
The low is predicted to migrate its way back to the Territory. So we have certainly not seen the last of the wind and rain yet either !
I take it you live at one of the beaches to the north of Townsville ?
Hope you don't sustain too much more foreshore Damage there !

Thanks guys for thoughts and comments.
Yes Ian, I live up at Saunders Beach, 30 km north T'ville.
I would be very happy if curvaceous Charlotte popped over to The Territory to visit and stay
Supposed to be heavy rain for us tonight ... OK so far... and tis the Wet Season.

Liz I called into Saunders Beach in mid August to try and camp for the night till I could get my car fixed at Bullimores the next day.
Finished up staying at the Blue Waters Caravan Park on the highway.

Ta jjj, I certainly wont.
Ha, yes Erick, i can giggle looking at it now. Someone has pulled up those steps now, so they wont get washed away.
