At the March 11 general meeting of the ASV in the Herbarium (near the Shrine) I will be giving a talk on meteorites. The meeting kicks off around 8:00pm with the normal business and probably around 8:15 to 8:30 I expect my talk will commence. I will have samples of several types of meteorite (including my 11kg Campo called "Aussie" for reasons that will become apparent when you see it), I don't want to spoil the surprises, but there will be some from places you possibly never imagined, even something from Apollo 11....you may even see some things from more than 65 million years ago :). At the end of the meeting, you will be able to come up and touch a piece of space for yourself.

For anyone who was at VicSouth last year, this is a repeat of the talk I gave there, but with a few small additions.

Admission is free and open to anyone with an interest. It also happens to be full Moon, so you won't be missing much in the skies!

Your upcoming talk sounds interesting and fascinating, with a great opportunity to see what reads like some very interesting samples, with the Apollo 11 “something” very intriguing; good luck and I hope you get a good turnout!

Cheers

Dennis

Actually, I am now also making the same presentation in Adelaide a week earlier! Please read my new thread for details about this talk.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday) is my talk. Hope to see you there, don't know if we will get as many as turned up in Adelaide though...that was incredible!

We had an incredible turnout at the ASV last night. I would like to thank Paul Deany for kicking it all off, as the new meteor section director. I had a number of interesting questions during and after the talk and was inundated by a shower of interested people who couldn't wait to hold some meteorites (and dinosaur teeth) in their bare hands!

Sounds like a great talk. Wish I could've been there.
