Hi everyone!
Beautiful sunny, still and warm afternoon here in Bacchus Marsh - ready for a Full Moon evening! :scared:
How about where you are!
Some work to get done, then I hope to get back to the search for suitable close observing sites for when I haven't got the time to drive the hour to Snake Valley Astro Club site. The usual approach - driving up side roads and driveways!
Smiles
Eric :)

just waiting for night to arrive....
Hi Eric.
A little overcast and very muggy here in Brisbane.
Am tinkering with the 40D, checking out more of its features and testing a few things.
I bought a Hoya circular polarising filter yesterday and a few other bits and pieces.
Got the tennis on in the background and am contemplating a chilled frothie....just to enhance the relaxation:D

An absolutely beautiful day here in Sydney (as usual!) hardly a cloud in sight, so it must be full moon time.......
The missus is painting the window frames in the loungeroom, while I lie in bed (no, not a chauvanist pig, just temporarily need to keep horizontal) browsing the forums and plan ripping the guts out of the GSO 12" and building a truss tube lighter weight machine.
Cheers,
Jason.

Beautiful afternoon here in Lonny, a balmy 24 outside after a cloudy smoky start to the day. I have mown the Lawn, whipper snippered and fed and watered some trees, very satisfying.
I have to agree with Jason, it seems that the weather always clears around full moon.

I,ll keep em crossed for ya.....cheers Kev.
Spent the day pottering around the farm and doing a few little jobs that needed attending to. The clouds are starting to roll in and it looks like a big storm might be brewing.
Might have to open a bottle of red and watch some of natures fireworks.
Cheers

Forecast looks good at this stage, I've got my fingers crossed aswell, eager to do some galaxy hunting already!
But ofcourse, being southern Victoria, the official home of year round cloud, cold and gloom, forecasts that far out are to be taken with a grain of salt.

It's overcast over my way.
Went DVD shopping this afternoon and bought the complete boxed set of "The Comic Strip Presents....".
That should keep my nights occupied this week.

26 here and scattered cloud. Not that it makes much difference, gear is all packed in storage ready for the move back to WA. :)
Had a nice peaceful Sunday, watched a movie, wandered down the RSL for a chat, beer and feed, now looking for another one to watch.

Nice blue sky here typical with a full moon, though a bit of a breeze.
So I'll be watching the cricket. Maybe some lunar imaging afterwards.
Cheers Daniel.

My day? Well after a loverly breakfast cooked by my dear wife, I settled down to watch the mercury reach 41.9 deg. (common at this time of year here!). Then just as I took my first bite of lunch off goes the pager, fire! (I'm in the local volunteer brigade).
And thats what I have spent Sunday afternoon doing, home now and I hope no more this w/end.
Cheers everyone. :sunny:

I did get out. Close to lining up permission to use a good "close to home" site for observing. It gets me away from the local Bacchus Marsh light pool - skies above my back yard are not dark enough. But I did drive around and found another likely location 10 min drive away. But the few broken beer bottles scattered around were a bit worrying.... I hope the first one comes through - it's very secure.
Got treated to a wonderful thunder and lightning show this evening, very spectacular and now the rain has just started.
Beautiful moonlit clear sky night here it has been like this for 2 weeks now, arhh i need some sleep, ive been sleep deprived since the new year  ive had my scope out non stop hehe (sorry guys i dont mean to rub it in or anything ;)) over 40 degrees forecast here for the next week :scared:
But the good thing is i now have 3 new astro geeks hooked they wanna buy a scope now :thumbsup:

^^ 40 degrees should be the norm, rather than exception up there at this time of the year. But this is one of the coldest summers in recent times here. The antarctic territory of Melbourne has been extremely cold this "summer". Our temps have resembled early spring ever since mid-november. I live a bit inland from the Port Phillip Ice shelf, so it probably hasn't been as frigid as in the CBD, but notheless, its part of life here in the roaring 40's.
I ws gonna go out tonight, but the full moon and continual trashy seeing had me inside getting wasted instead ;)
Congrats on your new converts aswell!:thumbsup::thumbsup: May they go forth and open their wallets in pursuit of their new found nocturnalism!
