Southern Pleiades but whats the nebula

I'm pretty sure this is the SP but with the light pollution and the moon I couldn't even make out Eta, so please confirm however if SP whats the nebula

9 frames 5 minutes per frame

Focus was off first time using DSLR Focus and obviously didn't do a good job

Hi Trevor, the nebula is NGC 3324 otherwise known as the Gabriela Mistral Nebula after the poet of the same name:

Thanks Mike if it's 3324 then according to the star charts the other cluster could not be SP as Eta is between SP and 3324 the cluster could be NGC3532 but then 3324 appears to close

It's not the Southern Pleiades and that does look like NGC3324. If no one has answered tomorrow, I know its in my Starry Night, I'll turn on that computer and let you know.:thumbsup: The SP are on the other side of NGC3372(Eta Carinae) by quite a way, and NGC3532 is below Eta.

Hi Trevor & All,

I'm certain the cluster is NGC 3293 -- Herschel's Gem Cluster. I personally believe it to be the best O.C in the sky for 8" and above 'scopes.

The nebula is indeed NGC 3324 -- visible easily within the same field in 8-10" 'scopes with a filter.

I've attached a Megastar map with the same orientation as the image and a similar image scale -- N is basically left and E is down.

Finall;y figured it's NGC3293 and NGC3324 through Stellarium, well I'll be so much for my goto I was orignally hoping to pick up Eta but theLP and moon made it difficult through the camera lens and my RD finder
