Hi All,

Imaged Saturn this morning every 10 mins from 17:00 to 18:10 UTC.
Seeing was variable 6-7/10.

Some interesting bright features that show up best on the R channel.
Will have ago at posting an animation of the R channel images.

Regards
Trevor

Good shot trev! lovely colour!

How many frames were stacked for each channel on this one? seems a little noisy.. Though, I suppose they are for scientific purposes, so a little noise vs destroying valuable information by smearing details is a very acceptable trade off...

Hi Alex,
I have followed up on Bird's suggestion and have extended my capture time.
Each channel was for 60 sec's at 30 fps at 1/30 sec.
I maintained the histogram at about 190. R and G channels used Gain of 880 and the B channel used max gain.

Captured just over 1800 frames for each channel, stacked 700 from each channel making mt RGB's 2100 frames.

Sorry about the noise, it was just me being slack. I have been up since 2:30 am to set up and by the time I finished processing and making my animation I forgot to run Noise Ninja over the image that I posted.

Have just done that and here is the same image, makes a good comparison, regarding the noise reduction.

Regards
Trevor

Wow.. noise ninja does a really really good job..being able to capture 30fps with saturns current brightness must be very nice... Thats the difference between 16" and 11" I suppose.. Im capturing at 10fps at the moment and just managing to expose the histogram to 190 with gain at a useable setting... I've been considering moving to a DMK and filters.. although I dont know how much upgrading my camera while im still learning my way around this scope is going to help.. :)

Lovely image indeed..

Alex.
