Well the Pony Club is going to have a new SDM (although only a 14.5") and it is that weekend I have to go down to Vic. and pick it up.
So looks like Feb. for me as well.

Have a safe Trip, Greg. I am very excited to see your new baby as soon as she is safely back on the Central Coast.
The sudden lapse in decent weather conditions suddenly makes more sense.
For a moment there Greg I thought you were talking about mine.:P
I'm travelling down to Shepparton to pick mine up next week and may get up to the PC too that weekend:thumbsup:

Hi Norm.
What are the chances of two 14.5s turning up at the same time!
Saw you on the list but did not realize you were so close.
Be interesting to compare scopes.
Rod, thanks.
Yes, maybe twin SDMs were just too much for the weather gods
Cheers,
Greg.

Bones....That's what we thought about the last PC and ask Deeno, RB, and H how the sky was later!!!after the cloud buzzed off.
Too early to tell yet about forecasts and we could share a little Oz day spirit anyway if we have to wait.( I think RB and H are going to open up a camera and imaging session in conjunction???????)
So we'll see you there Eh?:) (with scope)

Hi Phil,
Usually someone will be there by about 7 to 7.30 pm.
There is a map at the top of the Star Parties Forum page if you need it.
The Club Entrance is near Ironbark Rd Mangrove Mountain if that helps.
Here is a link to the map.

Want to come saturday still, probably get there early ( its just me!). Will wait outside the gate until a key arrives.
Do we need to bring anything special for the evening (ETOH or food etc).
Just had the last two nights with the scope up at Bretti reserve: would have been great except for the clouds

Arthur, just bring your usual observing creature comforts
plus any food to get you through the night.
There is an amenities block plus hot water at the club house.
There is also 240VAC from the club house if you have a long lead.

looks like it is clear for you guys - bummer for imaging though, unless you have a cooled camera still pretty hot - we hit 41.3 at wallsend today
Yeah, sorry guys, I've been way too busy here.
This hot weather really knocks us about with work and I haven't been on IIS for a while.
I just logged on now to see what's happening tonight.
Sue and the kids are still at the beach, if they get back and things cool down I want to try and make it tonight.
Clear Skies.

maybe i was the wrong choice for sacrificial lamb, maybe we needed the vestal virgin instead.
Woke this morning, looks like a daytime version of last night: what can you do??, this has been a lousey few months to see the sky.
The redeeming factor was that the company was great

The faithfull DID turn up but alas the only visible thing to the believers was the 'horsehead' from the clubhouse as I said in my last post.
Clouds rolled in just after we arrived (isn't that just typical) and spoiled the viewing, however it was good to meet Phil and Norm and catch up with all the regulars.
The cloud turned in to drizzle at about 1am so packed up stumps (Deeno twice on the day) and had an early. Sacrificial lambs just didn't do it for us this time, but they probably were the smartest and ended up getting more sleep than us.;) What's a sacrificial vestal virgin Arthur?
So till next one. Cheers:)

Dear PC goers
I would like to refer you once more to my other thread in this forum, we do not have control over the weather - lets just work with it. There are some clear skies forecast this week - how about meeting during the week? I think even one hour of a good sky is better than this waste of time...

I read in the local that there are planned road closures in the area this week.
Is this going to affect access to the site?

*&^%$#@ Clouds again.
As soon as I unpacked the car and started to set up, the clouds came over and stayed all night.
Company was good as usual.
I cant work out if I am getting an Imaging bug or not after discussions with RB and "H" on the Moon.
Is it too late for me ?, am I on the downward spiral into the black hole of imaging...................:P....... ..........Time will tell.
Thx everyone for a good night.
Maybe next time.

RE: ROAD CLOSURE - January 27 - January 29
For those who are thinking about going to the Pony Club during the week, attached is the link from the Gosford Council website
http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/news_events/media/media-releases-2009/january-2009/peats-ridge-road-detour-for-road-works
The map is of the affected area and detours is also found in the link.
Cheers,
The Sacrificial lamb #2
(sorry it didn't work out for you guys, I don't like giving blood for nothing - drizzled most of the way home too)
I'd rather be a sacrificial lamb than a scape goat.
:lol::lol:
The weather was lousy, but it was great to meet up with the regulars, always welcoming and good to have a yarn.
Looking forward to next time:thumbsup:

Sorry to hear you were clouded out on Saturday night, folks.
I had a great weekend at Coonabarabran. Hector (Andrew Murrell) was there too....we shared some great views in The Mary Rose and Ptah. Unfortunately John Bambury was unwell, and so unable to join us.
We did have some interference from storms on Saturday night, not a single cloud or drop of rain, but endless flickering from lightning strikes perhaps 50-100km to the north and north east. I packed up that night at 10.30pm, went to bed for a few hours, and was up again about 2.30am when the electrical storm had settled down, and observed until astronomical dawn.
I am dog tired, so while the thought of meeting up during the week at the PC is attractive, my body will be taking me to bed early most of this week!
I may see you all next month. I repeat my comments on the other thread which Joe started that I think the PC is less than ideal, and particularly after a weekend at Coona, I realise, again, just how much darker the sky can get.
