Subject: M46, M47 & NGC2423
Note: Planetary nebula NGC 2438 is the blue-green bubble inside M46.
Exposure: 64X15secs@1600 ISO
Lens: 200mm f2.8 Canon @f4
Mount: EQ-6 unguided

Good stuff Bill. Two very nice clusters that display pleasing colour balance. The green planetary adds to the dimension. Screams for more focal length to check out its structure. Thanks for sharing these. Well done.

Nice piccies....I like the colour contrast of the PN in M46...nice aqua against the blue-white of the stars:)

Hi Bill,
I love the wide field image of M46-M47, well done.
They lay in a most interesting region. There are many other Messier objects nearby.

The PN is a favorite of mine, it has a different proper motion to the stars in M46 so is not a member of that cluster.

Thanks, guys. I was surprised to find the two Messier objects were so close together and then when the PN showed up inside one of them that was a real bonus. Worth a closer look with a scope.
