Taken early last year I was very pleased at these first attempts with a
lxd 55 mount
sn8" scope
canon 300d
polar aligned only no guiding. The very next night I was carrying out the scope after polar aligning quite excited and tripped over my (Sooty) Black as the ace of spades cat.One dead sn8!
Broken corrector plate and scratched mirror, did'nt do me much good either but here goes. I put in a pic of Comet Mcnaught as well taken for the roof of my car in central Vic.
Cheers

Cats always seem to get under your feet...violin strings!!!!:eyepop::P:D
Hope you got a new scope out of it....it would be a shame if you never bought another scope.
Like the piccie of McNaught....the shot of omega Centauri is alright too. Got some hot pixels in it though. Your eta shot needs fixing, though, but it's good work in any case.:)

Yeah I heard the sounds of violins too, just regaining an interest in the hobby.
I have an ed 80 and ed100 but I plan just to do widefield and use the 80 for autoguiding .I couldn't autoguide the sn8, too heavy for the mount

Once you've recovered from the shock of losing the sn8, and you've got the money, I'd get another one (or a better scope) and permanently mount it:)
That way, the cat wont smash your scope anymore and if it decides to climb up on it...the stradivarius will sound really nice afterwards:P:D

My orange tabby tried that. He/it rode the scope to the ground smashing motors into the pier, breaking connectors etc. One life gone. In its interest, I keep a small pile of little sticks to throw near and distract him away from the scope.
Never let a little pussy keep you from your hobbies.;)
