Hi Wavytone.
This has been discussed a number of times before. Check this thread for the most discussion on it (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=23601&highlight=moon).
It's a representation and not meant to be a live-outside view.. also, remember the smiley face conjunction? The moon was lit from mostly underneath, as it is every month early in the phase. Lit from the left or lit from the right still won't be accurate in that case.

Maybe its not a big issue but maybe some just have a chuckle.
If it must stay as a representation (and I can't see why) then at least make a note below it to inform southern newcomers who may become totally confused with a wrong way round Moon. Rather, put it the "correct" way and note that it is an approximation of the Moon's phase as seen from Oz. That should satisfy everyone surely.
