Hi Guys, after seen some great attempts at the witch head nebula I thought I might just have a go as well,

Although it looked pretty clear it was obvious after downloading the files that there was some high haze at times, hence the haloed stars, unusual for the Tak.

I was only able to score 7 images and it is obvious to me now that 8 minutes at 500 ISO is just not enough, will do longer subs next time.

However although fairly light on, I am reasonably pleased for as first go at this faint object.

It went like this, 7 images @ 8 minutes each through the Tak and modded 5D, on the G11 and auto guided, flats and ICNR on, processed in Image Plus and CS2.

Please be critical I could use a hand with this one, I will collect more data next time. ;)

Thanks for looking

Leon

PS forgot to mention ended up with the same Satelite as Doug did the other night, right through the forehead

Nice piccie, Leon. Needs more time on the subs, but a good attempt:)

Gotta a few galaxies in the background, there:)

Nicely done Leon. Definitely needs more subs with longer exposure and maybe a higher ISO setting.

Looks good though.

Nice image Leon. The nebulosity has come up well for such short subs on this faint area. Longer subs and more of them will make this an outstanding image.

Lovely wide field and framing Leo. Tried this again the other night - seems really tough to get much of an image even at 1600 ISO and 10mins.

Nicely framed, great tracking and nice natural (not clipped) background. It must be a very faint one!

Your right guys, it is faint alright, but I an very interested to get a good one of this subject, so many more longer subs are on the way, I hope,

Many thanks for your encouraging comments.

Nice crone there, Leon!!

Adjusting the levels a little will bring the neb detail out nicely and darken the background.
