Too many options involving the wife, is that on purpose? :D.

Yep.
Just me and the dog(s)
Reason? Played up like a pork chop on Christmas/Boxing Day and have been crook as 12 chooks ever since.:(
Attended an "orphans" party here in Alice for people whose families are all interstate and it was a blinder.
Not really supposed to drink at all due to various health issues, but I figured that I'd been behaving myself pretty well for the last 18 months or so and after all, life is for living - not just surviving. Only problem with that philosophy is that it's sort of pushed me into "survival" mode:doh:
Getting too bloody old for these all night drinking sessions:sadeyes:
Ah well! Tomorrow's another day (and another year):D
Best wishes to all. Have a safe and happy one!

just me, my scope and my rum. First night of great viewing in weeks, and i won't feel guilty or viewing when i should have been studying (all my commercial pilots licence exams are D.O.N.E!)

kinda sucks though, since all my family, my girlfriend and closest friends are on the other side of the country....

Just me, the moggy and a glass of red tonight.

My wife is working tonight, she's a chef and is feeding the revellers. I save her a glass of red for when she gets home or open another bottle.

Cheers

BBQ and drinkies with the family and friends on my balcony, watched the fireworks (9pm and midnight) - I have a perfect harbour view.

Best of all is I don't have to travel :) but the friends are asleep on my floor, it takes hours for the traffic jam to clear here.

Nice idea Ian, except I'm the boss & no one pays me 2.5%., and annual leave, it's just a mirage to me.

Happy NY everyone.

My new year started off well, we had a howling easterly and if you live in the Perth foothills you'll know what I mean. Lost a side Super Six fence and the venitian in my study blew off the bracket and broke.

So so far this year I'm up for a new fence and a blind for my study.

Oh well such is life. Had a great barbie with close friends and saw the new year in with sparklers and cheer.

That's a bummer with the fence Trevor, hope it's not too expensive to repair.

My wife Kee got home from work around 12:30 so we opened a bottle of champers and had a late NYE and watched a late movie on telly "Cant stop the music" that was a bit tragic of us.

She is off for the next NYE so we are definitely going to do something.

Cheers:)

A bit of rural fencing might be the way to go Trevor ;), the wind just goes straight through mine and even the neighbours horses cant knock it down.

Just me and the wife and our 11-week-old daughter. No drinks consumed by anyone.

Funny thing was that our baby went to sleep at 10:30pm, which is two and a half hours earlier than normal. We were all in bed by 12:30am.

:lol::lol:
Yeah, mine was quiet.
Stayed in and rewatched The Worlds Fastest Indian, which is a GREAT movie with Anthony Hopkins and also The Astronaut Farmer, a movie I'd not previously seen and which I also highly recommend:thumbsup:
Both movies highly uplifting and inspirational.
Not so tragic after all.:)
(The dogs liked 'em too!)

Wife and I stayed up to see the fireworks on TV .... looked pretty much identical to last year's display , just different music , a few nibblelies and we were in bed by about 1am. We're a pair of NYE tragics , I offered to take her out this year but she wasn't interested, I offered to take her to Stocton to see the Newcastle Foreshore fireworks , not interested , no celebratory drinks .

Pretty quiet in my neighbourhood this year at midnight , a few fireworks let off , no wild parties this year that I was able to hear.

Took a squiz outside before retiring - sky was nice and dark and very clear about about midnight, up again at 3am , heard dogs next door barking (they've been away with their caravan since Xmas Eve) checked about from my back patio with my torch and saw no-one. Sky very very smokey and smelly then. (I guess this was pollution from Sydney harbour's midnight fireworks.

Finally a clear night!!! :rofl:Too good to miss. Left the wife and kids at home. Took the scope to mums (on a rural property) to get away from the search lights at a neighbouring club. Forgot my dew shield :doh:but it didn't seem to matter as no dew till 11:30pm. Quiet time and hours of solo observing till about midnight. Crashed out in bed by 1:30am. Slept in till 9:00am. Apart from a few mozzie bites on the knuckles :mad2: the observing session well worth it, and my best in months.:)
