Hi everyone.

:help:I am after information on cleaning the mirror of a VC200l. Have any of you actually had a VC200L appart for cleaning. I unfortunately had a big Christmas beetle ende up inside the OTA and it has kindly left it's deposits all over the primary mirror.
I am a little concerned about taking out the mirror and worried about the field flattener and focus tube in this little scope.:help:

Any advice welcome, but please only from those who have done this job in the past.

g'day
I have two old VC200Ls and have had them apart for cleaning numerous times. The easist way to clean the primary is to undo the screws at the rear of the steel tube at the rim of the rear casting. It should be possible to prise it apart - make sure you index mark the tube. Lay the rear assembly on a towel. The primary can then be dusted off, swabbed and rinsed with distilled water, then dried with a hair dryer. No need to take the mirror out of the cell - if you do it needs to be index marked.
