Hi,
have uploaded some more tracked video of mars from asimov.

to quote the great man himself:

"Both with the 12.5" newt @ 212X...using a 'fringe killer' filter on EP. The second mov is same as, but with 3 holed aperture mask as well...."

these comments apply to the mars20050908 (http://www.precons.com/iis/GALLERY/asimov/mars20050908) series

Noobies, this is a great chance to have a go at reigistax and see what details you can and can't bring out.

Have fun!

I really have no idea what I'm doing, so I couldnt bring any detail out of the mars20050908_001 or mars20050908_002. I used VirtualDub to convert them to individual images so I could weed out the bad ones, then used Registax and fumbled through it. Be interested to see what others can get out of them.

ps. the URL for the AVI's is http://www.precons.com/iis/gallery/asimov/

Hi. That's about as good as I was able to squeeze out as well thiink. I might do what you did...chuck out all crap images out 1st then re-stack..This damn camera over-exposes a single small object in a big expanse of black. I had better luck shooting thru the 6" refractor. I'm gonna try to stop down the aperture on the 12.5" & see what happens.

And thanks Dave.

There has to be a way to do it in Registax, doesnt there (calling Registax guru's)? It was only the last 1/4 of the the images from each movie that I ended up throwing out anyway, when the scope moved and blurred the images.

If you dont mind and have some more I'd love to have a go with them as well for something to do. I want to see what the wavelet guru's can do.

Yeah. Not sure what the answer is. I suddenly thought...ok, stack less images to cut down on the surface brightness...the draw-back there would be your also cutting back on surface details after the stack..I assume? yeah....calling all registax wizards! have a go at this, lol. No more as yet thiink. I'll be taking more AVI as the situation arises though.
