Hi Guys,

very happy with tonights viewing, crystal clear to start with, but with clouds moving in, i really wanted to image m42. This is the first time i have see it and was awestruck at how big the nebula is even at 30x.

Whacked in the afocal platform for the toucam, set it up to take .1 sec shots and in between clouds, managed to get two good sequences.

Stacked in registax, cleaned in neat image and added text in photoshop

Asimov asked a question re how many stars can you see. Which stars do you count. At 30x, 50x and 100x, I can see 4 tightly bunched together right in the middle and then three to the left. there are others, but not sure what to include? These images do not show the 4 that are right in the middle of the red haze!

Very happy boy I am!

Excellant work David.

See you can still get results without having an expensive CCd camera or tracking.

Within the 4 in the middle their is another 2......Starkler (Geoff) put up a image explaining where they are within the 4 stars you can see.
