I received an interesting link on the ALPO_Jupiter yahoo group the other day, and doing some digging back through my old images, I found one of mine taken just a few hours later.

Mine is no match to hubble, but it's interesting none-the-less.

I blogged about it here:
Jupiter, GRS and Ganymede Occultation (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/2008/12/21/jupiter-grs-and-ganymede-occultation)

The hubble image and the animation are linked within.

That's pretty cool mate. OH... and i forgive you for not using the hubble to take your own shot! Makes me wonder if I'd try setting up my dob for photography one day. At the moment the propositions scares me however.

cheers

I think it is amazing what can be obtained given Hubble gives a upper marker... but isnt it great to be able to come so close to another world.
Mike I think your blog is excellent

Well done Mike, just goes to show to get that little bit of improvement cost a lot of money.

A few years ago if you said that you could image features on the moons of Juipter with Amateur gear people would have laughed at you. :screwy:
