Kengee made a good point in another thread, how many of us have sat down and done some sums and worked out the CURRENT replacement cost of all our gear (let alone our entire home contents) recently.

I last revised over 12 months ago , and I've added the New Atlux, the 40D kit and maybe near $1500 of other bits n pieces - astronomy and imaging gear since .
We've also inherited some fine art , antique furnature , and jewellery , antique fine crystal ware (bedroom and glassware) from my wife's aunti's estate too that needs to be added.
I knew I was buying the astronomy and photography stuff but the exchange was nearer parity then.

I think I need to contact my insurer and update my coverage to compensate for an exchange rate of nearer 65c.

Wouldn't do to be under insured if some desaster happens or we are burgled when away from home.

Hi Ian, I have a separate insurance for my astrogear and review it annually. I always make sure that the policy states full replacement, it costs a bit more but worth in case anything happens.

Cheers

As Ian said there was another thread about this a few months ago, and it got me thinking. I was shocked when I worked out how much gear I had. I bet most of us you have done this hobby for a while would be the same.
