Hi
Got a pretty little emission nebula Sh2-3 just off the tail of scorpio tonight. Its a pretty deep shot for me, an hours worth of imaging 3 x 20 mins ISO 1600 with Baader UHCS filter and Lumicon Coma Corrector, 10 inch F5.6 Newt. EOS 300D (unmod). Hand guided.

Thanks, folks. Ive been after this one for a while, the night was looking iffy at first but cleared up :) I have a bar stool with gas lift that makes life much easier, I can set it at the height I need to sit at the guiding eyepiece. My mount has no motorised Dec, so would need extensive modifications for autoguiding (though an electronic whizz I know modified his similar mount for autoguiding).

How do you 'Hand Guide' for 1 hour! I can't keep objects centred in my dob for more than about 10 seconds and when I try to re-centre it the object is in a slightly different place each time.

What's the trick???

I have a drive corrector with fast and slow buttons, and the mount is well polar aligned (I tweak it every so often if the star drifts in dec.) I can often go a few minutes before having to adjust the hand dec control. I get as comfy as possible and start guiding. Time passes slow though :(
Yep Striker looks good.
As Houghy mentioned theres a new greyhound track on the other side of Wallsend, with big floodlights, I hope they dont have Sat night meetings as thats when the Astro society has the viewing nights just up the hill.
