Hi all,
We had a few nights up at the Sunshine Coast earlier this week, which gave me an opportunity to do a bit of photography. Had a nice view of Orion and Canis Major rising over the beach, which I thought was worth capturing. There's also an earlier shot of Sirius rising.
I'll post a few more in the terrestrial photography section.
Cheers,
Stephen

They are really good images. It is nice to see the night sky properly exposed in 'scenic' images. I always wanted to to a movie of a sequence stills (time lapse) seeing what can be done over a dark ocean gives me ideas.

i just love the constellation Orion... i was out at Cloncurry a couple of weeks back and i saw Orion about 20 degrees high in the sky. it is something that i will never forget.
the size of it seamed to stretch 1/2 way across the sky. Beatlejuice and the other star were are Blue and Red as i have never seen them before even at a dark sky night.

nice shots - love the first one. BTW did you get much salt spray on the lens?

Hi Steven I have looked at this 3 times.
The scene looks so calm yet the water on the left side is like a huge wave rolling in.
Its just got that appearance to me.
Cheers Kev.

Thanks for the comments Jase, David and Kev. The waves were only about waist-high, and so despite a fair breeze blowing I avoided getting any salt spray on the lens.
Cheers,
Stephen
