mono Ngc1365/ 2442

Hi all, yes a long time in between drinks for sure.:drink::drink:
Weather here has been nought but sh*te for best part of
half a year.:windy:
Worst run ever!!
Still, I usually check out what's been happening with the group most
every day.

I'm pretty much champing at the bit and only have some luminance to
show for the past couple of months.


These couple of nights were quite nice.
I really like the area around Ngc2442 with the back ground
galaxies and the star structure. Be nice with some colour.

Done with Hx916 and 10" F4 newtonian.

Hopefully some colour soon but this weather is as fickle as... :prey::whistle::sadeyes::mad2:

Wow rich they're stunning indeed. I love the diffraction spikes.

Plenty of detail in the galaxies. Can't wait to see the colour versions.

Very nice Rich. A pair of well selected and imaged galaxies. Would be interesting to see the colour versions of them both. Your scope seems to grab the light very well from these.

I like your processing Richard, we seem to have a commn connecton there? Not toooooo smooth, with lots of detail, so it's natural looking, nice. Don't care what anyone says, artificial smoothing is almost always very obvious, even when careful layering and blending is used, some low level fine noise is quite acceptable and natural looking IMO.

You have picked up some Galactic Cirrus in the NGC 2442 shot but you are losing it in that prominent gradient running diagoinally top right to bottom left. Actually both images have the same gradient..? any ideas? Can you get rid of that?

At least you have done an image (two even!)....I'm jealous! :sadeyes: none for me since end of Sept :(.....repro anyone? :P

Nice one Rich! ex like the 1365 one! nice detail captured :thumbsup: Actually spent the last two nights getting some 3 hrs worth of 1365!

Yeah, have an issue with this poxy filter wheel. I'm going to make a cover for it tomorrow. It is when the Milky way is over head, the light leaks in.
I'm on it Sir.....;)

Yep this weather has been pretty poor indeed.
It's the monsoonal feed from the NW Western Australia dropping down into the jet stream, upsetting the usual high/ low pressure balance.
I cop it here and then you guys get it on the east coast.
Man we need the rain, but geez, there's gotta be a balance for us poor folk!
