Hi All,
What I have posted is a .gif of my image of H-H34 and a scanned image from Pg 39, S&T, Oct 1995. The caption states that this image was taken with the ESO NTT in SII and Ha light by Bo Reipurth and Steve Heathcote, obviously before the publication date. While scanned, their image still contains better resolution than mine (12").
The article states that these objects (Herbig-Haro) contain high velocity material being ejected from very young stars.
The following is a link to a HST image of H-H47 to illustrate this point (2.something Meg)

I figured that with 13+ years between images and given the differences in quality I may be able to detect movement. I have carefully resized the images to match, and aligned them as best I can.

I'm not sure of the result, so I throw it to you.

How interesting. Both jets do seem to have extended slightly in your image.

Yes interesting! Like Scott mentions that the arcs on the top and bottom seem to be further away, ends of the jets?
cheers Gary

Thanks guys.
I'm a little convinced of the bottom "shock-wave", but the upper one appears to be moving a little to far.

As per normal, deeper and more data req'd.

It is very hard to be certain here.. images were taken with different equipment and it seems exposure times are also different.
Also, scanning process is very lossy re data preservation...
